What Microsoft Copilot could do with real-time intelligence: 5 use cases.

Microsoft 365 Copilot now takes custom connectors built on MCP. Here is what a team gets when AgentStructure apps post SAM.gov matches, competitor filings and policy moves into Teams, Excel and Word.

Key takeaways

The short version.

  • Microsoft 365 Copilot works inside Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel, where most office work already happens.
  • Microsoft's federated Copilot connectors are built on MCP. An admin can add a custom connector by entering an MCP server URL with read-only tools, then roll it out to groups or the whole company.
  • AgentStructure apps are read-only signals, which is exactly the kind of tool Microsoft's custom connectors are designed for.
  • Copilot Studio agents can call MCP tools as actions, and Microsoft 365 agents can run scheduled prompts daily, weekly or monthly.
  • Best fits: GovContracts.Money for bid teams, SEC Stock Signals for finance and strategy teams, PoliticalPredictions.APP for policy teams.

About Microsoft Copilot

What is Microsoft Copilot, as an agent platform?

Microsoft 365 Copilot is the assistant built into Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and the rest of Microsoft 365. Companies extend it with agents, built in Agent Builder or Copilot Studio, where a maker can add an MCP server and each tool it publishes becomes an action the agent can take. Approved agents appear in the company’s Agent Store, and agents can run scheduled prompts on a daily, weekly or monthly cycle.

Copilot also reaches outside data through connectors. Microsoft’s federated connectors query a source live at prompt time instead of copying it into an index. An admin with the Global or AI Administrator role can create a custom one from “an MCP server URL with read-only tools exposed,” test it with a staged rollout and then deploy it to everyone.

Why it matters

Why does Copilot need real-time intelligence?

Copilot knows your company’s mail, files, chats and meetings. It does not watch SAM.gov for new solicitations, SEC EDGAR for a competitor’s 8-K, or the political posts that move the markets your policy team tracks. Those signals usually arrive as someone’s forwarded email, a day late.

AgentStructure is the real-time intelligence layer personal AIs plug into. Each app watches one specialized source, filters for what matters and explains the change, and it only reads, which matches what Microsoft asks of a custom connector. Once an admin adds it, the signal shows up where the team already works: a Teams channel, an Outlook draft, a Word brief or an Excel tracker.

Use cases

5 ways Microsoft Copilot could use AgentStructure apps.

1. GovContracts.Money

A new solicitation lands in the bid team's channel.

GovContracts.Money watches federal opportunities on SAM.gov for the work you do, by NAICS code and keyword, and sends the good ones with the deadline, the official link and any qualifications you are missing.

In Microsoft 365, a scheduled prompt each morning could post new matches to the bid team’s Teams channel, add a row to the pipeline tracker in Excel and start a go/no-go memo in Word. A person decides whether to bid; nothing is submitted.

2. SEC Stock Signals

Competitor filings, summarized before the Monday meeting.

SEC Stock Signals watches public filings for the companies on a watchlist and explains what each one could mean, in plain English, with a link to the original.

A strategy or finance team can point it at competitors and customers. A weekly scheduled prompt can turn the week’s filings into a one-page brief in Word, attached to the Monday meeting invite in Outlook. It explains; it is not investment advice.

3. PoliticalPredictions.APP

Policy moves, with the timeline your team can cite.

PoliticalPredictions.APP watches public political posts around the clock and tells you which prediction markets you follow could move, with timestamps.

For a government-affairs or risk team, Copilot can add each move to a running timeline in Excel and draft the note to leadership in Outlook, with the source posts linked. It reports; it does not place positions.

4. Comment2Chat

This week's buyer questions, in the marketing standup.

Comment2Chat turns comments and DMs on your social posts into conversations, answers, bookings and follow-ups, and tells you who is ready to buy.

Copilot can pull the week’s top questions and hot leads into the marketing team’s Teams standup notes, so the people writing next week’s posts see what buyers actually asked.

5. Catholic Reminders

The week ahead for a Catholic school's staff.

Catholic Reminders brings the feast, the saint, the readings and a short prayer each day, and explains the week ahead.

Many Catholic schools and dioceses run on Microsoft 365. A weekly scheduled prompt could post the coming week’s feasts and holy days to the staff channel in Teams, so teachers can plan prayer and Mass schedules around them.

How to

How would a Microsoft 365 team connect an AgentStructure app?

  1. 1Open the app's connect page on agentstructure.ai to get its MCP address.
  2. 2An admin adds it in the Microsoft 365 admin center under Copilot, Connectors, as a custom connector from an MCP server, then tests it with a staged rollout.
  3. 3Ask Copilot to use it, or set a scheduled prompt such as “every Monday, brief us on new competitor filings.”

AgentStructure apps reach assistants through their API and MCP, and their signals are read-only. A Copilot Studio maker can also add the MCP address to an agent as an action. No Agent Store or connector gallery listing is claimed, and AgentStructure has no partnership with Microsoft. The apps are free during the beta.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is Microsoft 365 Copilot?

Microsoft 365 Copilot is the AI assistant built into Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and the rest of Microsoft 365. Companies extend it with agents built in Agent Builder or Copilot Studio, publish approved agents to their Agent Store, and can have agents run scheduled prompts daily, weekly or monthly.

Can Microsoft Copilot use MCP?

Yes. Copilot Studio agents can add an MCP server, and each tool it publishes becomes an action. Microsoft's federated Copilot connectors are also built on MCP: an admin with the Global or AI Administrator role can create a custom connector from an MCP server URL with read-only tools, test it with a staged rollout and deploy it to all users.

Can my company connect AgentStructure apps to Copilot?

AgentStructure apps reach assistants through their API and MCP, and each app's connect page gives the address an admin would add as a custom connector or a Copilot Studio action. No Agent Store or connector gallery listing is claimed, and AgentStructure has no partnership with Microsoft.

Which AgentStructure app fits Copilot best?

GovContracts.Money for bid teams, SEC Stock Signals for finance and strategy teams, and PoliticalPredictions.APP for policy and risk teams, because each signal turns naturally into a Teams post, an Excel row or a Word brief.

Will Copilot submit bids or trade on these signals?

No. In these examples Copilot posts, tracks and drafts, and people decide what to submit or send. AgentStructure signals are information only, not investment, betting or legal advice.
